Hello World! (Yes, I’m Starting a Blog in 2026)

Hello World! (Yes, I’m Starting a Blog in 2026)

So here we are. The inevitable “Hello World” post that every developer writes when they start a blog. You know, that thing you do right before you abandon the blog for six months and then feel guilty about it every time you see the domain renewal email.

But I’m optimistic! Or maybe just delusional. Either way, welcome to peery.me.

Why Start a Blog in 2026?

Great question. Aren’t blogs, like… dead? Didn’t they die somewhere between the rise of Instagram Stories and the fall of Google Reader?

Well, yes and no. Sure, everyone’s on TikTok now, and attention spans have shrunk to the size of a tweet thread. But here’s the thing: I miss the old internet. The one where people wrote actual paragraphs. Where you could deep-dive into a topic without someone trying to sell you a course in the next breath.

Plus, I’ve been storing random tech tips, WordPress tricks, and half-baked thoughts in notes apps for years. Might as well throw them into the void and see if anyone finds them useful.

What You Can Expect Here

This blog is going to be a mixed bag, which is a polite way of saying I have no idea what I’m doing. But here’s the general vibe:

  • Tech & Code: Tips, tricks, and the occasional tutorial when I figure something out that took way too long
  • WordPress: Because apparently I enjoy pain and custom post types
  • Domains & Hosting: My favorite money pit hobby
  • Finance: Mostly me trying to justify domain purchases as “investments”
  • Life Thoughts: Random observations, hot takes, and existential dread

If that sounds like your jam, stick around. If not, that’s cool too. The internet’s a big place.

The Obligatory Promises

You know how every new blog starts with grand promises? “I’ll post three times a week!” “I’ll build a community!” “This is the year I finally—”

Yeah, I’m not doing that. I learned a long time ago that the fastest way to kill a project is to make unrealistic commitments and then feel terrible when you can’t keep them.

So here’s my actual promise: I’ll write when I have something worth saying. Maybe that’s once a week. Maybe it’s once a month. Maybe I’ll have a burst of energy and post five times in one week and then go dark for two months. Who knows!

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is to just… do the thing.

Why “Peery”?

Not gonna lie, I’ve already gotten this question. It’s just my last name. I know, super creative. But hey, it was available as a domain, and that’s basically winning the lottery in 2026.

Could’ve gone with something clever like “CodeAndCoffee” or “TheWordPressWhisperer,” but those probably cost $2,000 on the aftermarket. Plus, personal branding or whatever the LinkedIn people say.

Let’s Do This

So that’s it. The beginning. The “Hello World” moment. The part where I hit publish and immediately second-guess every word choice.

If you’re reading this, thanks for being here. Feel free to subscribe (if I’ve set that up correctly), or don’t. No pressure. We’re all just floating through the digital void together, trying to find good content between the AI slop and rage bait.

Here’s to new beginnings, imperfect consistency, and actually shipping something for once.
